Did you know that
ERAConnect differentiates between Primary/Secondary/Tertiary Payers?
On occasion,
payers will indicate in the ERA file that they are paying as the
primary payer when you submitted a secondary payment claim. This
happens particularly with Medicare. ERAConnect will not process a
payment if the payer is paying in the wrong position. However, you
can alter the position from what is sent in the ERA file. Select the
check that the item is contained in and note the SEQ filed in the
SERVICES window. This is indicating whether the payment has been sent
as Primary or Secondary. If, for example, Medicaid has indicated a 1
in this field saying they are the primary payer but you submitted the
claim for secondary payment you can change SEQ to 2 and make the
payment as secondary.
